Tianjin Eye: Reflections By Yet Feng

Tianjin Eye - 天津之眼

On the second night at Tianjin, our friendly Chinese hosts from Tianjin University brought us to Tianjin Eye, a 120-metre tall giant Ferris wheel built above the Chihai Bridge, over the Hai River. A unique feature of this ferris wheel is that it is the only such wheel constructed over a bridge.

The night view from the ferris wheel was splendid and we gasped in awe in response to the magnificent landscape before our eyes.

After the great ferris wheel ride, we went to the riverside below Tianjin Eye to release our Kong Ming Lanterns (孔明灯). Launching Kong Ming lanterns is a Chinese tradition and is thought to bring good luck. Hence, we followed this tradition in the hope of getting our CAP 5.

The first try was an epic failure. Our Kongming lantern got stuck in the tree and we prayed that it did not start burning and attract the policemen instead of praying for our CAP 5.

Smiley Siok Chen was never disheartened, being fully confident of getting good grades. Her encouraging smile prompted us to launch the Kong Ming Lantern a second time.

And our second try is a success! CAP 5 is coming our way! =)
